STORE GUIDE

May the place where you are become
ever gentler and more comforting.
Light Atrium by Shoko Otowa
Light Atrium is an online store featuring abstract oil paintings and goods by Shoko Otowa.
The name "Atrium" refers to a courtyard-like space that brings in natural light through a glass ceiling.
Simply displaying a small blue painting can create a refreshing atmosphere, as if inviting the blue sky into your room.
Even a single postcard has the power to make a space feel more expansive.
When you want to relax,
when you seek an elegant and brighter atmosphere,
when you want to lighten your room,
or when you wish to soothe a heavy heart,
paintings have a mysterious way of accompanying various moments and feelings.
Additionally, paintings possess the warmth and coziness that come from handmade craftsmanship.
I strive to offer quality products while keeping prices as low as possible.
Please take a moment to explore the site.
I hope that just browsing brings you joy, comfort, or both.
May the place where you are become ever gentler and more comforting.

Craftsmanship and Timelines
- Reasons for the Time Required for Shipping -
All paintings at Light Atrium are created using oil painting base material and oil paints.
As an exception, some elements in gold and silver may use Liquitex.
Oil painting is a process that requires time for drying, with each layer applied only after the previous one has dried.
This technique involves carefully layering and allowing sufficient drying time between each application, ensuring the highest quality and durability of the artwork.
Allowing sufficient drying time helps avoid issues related to aging, such as peeling or craquelure.
Properly created oil paintings can last over 100 years.
I take the time necessary to ensure that I deliver high-quality works.
That is why Bespoke orders may take several weeks.
Regardless of the materials used, paintings possess a unique beauty that cannot be fully captured in photographs.
The texture, warmth, and emotional depth are best experienced in person.
I hope you will enjoy these qualities.
For those who wish to minimize waiting time or have specific deadlines for gifts (such as for completions, anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, silver jubilees, graduations, enrollment, etc.), please consider our standard paintings, which are available for immediate shipping.
The Charm of Oil Paintings
Among various forms of painting, oil paintings are particularly captivating due to their unique property of drying without losing the texture of the paint.
This allows for the creation of artworks with a remarkable sense of three-dimensionality.
I hope you enjoy the allure of these paintings as they transform based on the angle of view and the color of the lighting.
Additionally, the texture of the underlying materials, the brush strokes, and the raised paint convey a genuine warmth and craftsmanship.
I encourage you to experience the tangible essence of these works in your everyday life and feel their powerful presence.

She graduated from Simon Fraser University in Canada, with bachelor's degree of Arts
(Faculty of Communication in the department of Applied Science).
Since 2013 oilpainting has been her main occupation.
During 2018-2021 she studied sculpture, dessin and watercolor painting in France.
She is an artist who expresses a portrait of one's heart.
Her delicate and sensitive works of color and brush depict the sentiment of
nostalgia, solitude and hope.
She is a Promotion ambassador of the City of Kuji (in the Iwate prefecture-Northeast part of Japan- facing the Pacific Ocean).
Since 2021, she values and cares more about the beauty within oilpainting as a tangible object.
Such as:

-Traces of brush strokes and finger

Painting looks different depends on the angle and a position of a light source, it fascinates her as well.
